The Golden State Warriors found strength in numbers on Monday night. Gary Payton II scored a career-high on 11-of-16 shooting, Steph Curry finished 24 points and four assists, Buddy Hield added 20 and Jimmy Butler recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Warriors built a 19-point halftime lead thanks to excellent three-point shooting. Golden State made 12-of-12 from beyond the arc in the first half good for +21 from distance.
Golden State (37-28) finished the night 21-of-41 from three-point range.
Portland (28-38) exploded in the third with a 19-7 run to cut the deficit to seven. A later 8-0 burst cut the deficit to four at 94-90 but the Warriors were able to take a 10-point lead at 102-92 into the fourth quarter.
The Trail Blazers pulled to within nine twice early in the fourth but couldn't get over the hump.
Deni Avdija returned to the lineup Monday night and had one of the best games of his career with 34 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists. Anfernee Simons scored 31 and Donovan Clingan added 15 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Portland committed 19 turnovers leading to 25 points for the Warriors.
