Theo James stars in the new horror/comedy film, The Monkey, which is a film adapted from Stephen King's short story and directed by Osgood Perkins, and talked about his role in the movie during a new interview on the "Pop Culture Weekly" podcast, hosted by Kyle McMahon.
During the podcast, James talked about tackling dual roles in the film and why he wanted to take on the project, explaining, "It's a piece of iconic IP, iconic literature from Stephen King, and then the chance to play two very different characters in a horror comedy."
Theo also shared how he knows whether he can take on a role or not now, versus when he was much younger. He shared, "You feel as an actor when you read a script if you can play it or not. You know, when I was in my youth, I would pretend that I could play anything, but in reality now, you know the stuff you could play and you know the stuff that you can't. And so you feel connected and you understand bits of the character, and you empathize with bits of the character."
Elsewhere in the episode, McMahon also talks with the film's Rohan Campbell, who stars opposite James, as well as Osgood Perkins himself. Perkins said of getting involved with the movie, "The project chose me. It's this unbelievable golden ticket opportunity to work off of the great author, to sort of play in his sandbox."
