Jim Jones is back with his most personal album to date.
The Harlem native dropped his long-awaited solo album At The Church Steps via Hitmaker Music Group. The album begins with his lead single "Jomo," which made headlines for his response to Cam'ron amid their ongoing beef. Jones also includes other stand-out tracks like "Make It Out" with Ron-E, his Cash Cobain-inspired "This Sh!T Still In Harlem," and "What's Going On" featuring Dave East. The latter song samples Marvin Gaye's famous titular hit from his 1971 LP What's Goin On. Artists like Fabolous, Conway The Machine, Fivio Foreign, and the other half of Lobby Boyz Maino also appear on the album.
Jim Jones recently told The Breakfast Club it took him 18 months to make the album. He said the direction of the project switched up multiple times throughout the recording process due to what was going on in his life — including his issues with Cam'ron. He acknowledged the rift between him and his Dipset brethren but declared he's only focused on what he's got going on.
"I've done a lot for Diplomats sake and for the sake of the people and the fans and all that, but nobody does a lot for me and that's part of the problem here," he said. "Nobody ever really pulled up for me when Jim Jones need them to pull up, but I pulled up for everybody. So now I gotta pull up for myself. All the other rhetoric I can't even hear no more."
In addition to the album, Jim Jones also plans to drop a movie inspired by his song "Opp Thot." Capo shared the official trailer earlier this week featuring appearances from Fabolous, Dave East, Maino and more.
