Houston's Bush Opens Terminal E

Houston's "big airport" has opened a new building that makes it even bigger.

The new Terminal E at Bush Intercontinental opened on Monday, and it's "a big win for travelers," as Houston Airports Directed of Aviation Jim Szczesniak puts it.

Previously, United Airlines passengers flying out of Terminal E had to first check in at Terminal C, a requirement that caused significant delays for some flyers.

"This opening also helps relieve congestion at Terminal C, improving the passenger experience at Bush Airport," Szczesniak noted.

The top features of the new building include a new ticketing lobby, a new TSA checkpoint, now with 10 lanes for travelers to chack in, and that number of lanes is expected to grow over the coming years and expansion construction gets underway.

"Passengers flying out of Terminal E will now have more space, faster security and a better check-in experience."

The opening of the terminal comes just before Spring Break, which annually brings a huge increase in travelers, so Houston leaders are expecting an "enhanced traveling experience over this year's holiday when compared to last year's.

In fact, airport officials say they expect up to 1.8 million air passengers this year as part of the Spring Break season from March 6th through the 17th.

Houston has two major commercial airports, including Hobby Airport south of downtown and Bush, which is larger on size and sometimes referred to as "the Big airport."
