Everything Old is New Again: 80s Baby Names Are Back!

If you’re a new parent looking for a totally tubular baby name in 2025, guess what? The hottest trend is straight out of the 1980s! That’s right—names that filled our classrooms, our Trapper Keepers, and our birthday party guest lists are making a comeback.

According to Woman’s Day, names like Heather, David, Stephanie, Matthew, Jennifer, Daniel, Ashley, Aaron, Melissa, Andrew, Tiffany, and Josh are climbing the charts again. And honestly? It makes total sense. These were the names of the kids who grew up with slap bracelets, Lisa Frank folders, and TGIF on Friday nights. And now, they’re being passed down to a new generation.

I have to admit, it’s kind of wild to think that names from our generation are now considered “cool again.” (Weren’t they always?!) But trends are cyclical—just like mom jeans, vinyl records, and the Stranger Things aesthetic. So if you’ve got a little Heather or Josh on the way, just know they’re in good company.

What do you think—should we bring back more 80s classics while we’re at it? Maybe a few more Jessicas? A Brian resurgence? Let’s discuss!
