Border Czar Tome Homan expects the number of arrests of illegal immigrants to go up after the acting ICE Director was reassigned.

While on NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” with Chris Cuomo last week, Homan said Caleb Vitello has been reassigned from his position as acting ICE Director to a lower level position where his sole focus will be on interior enforcement. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made the decision to reassign Vitello.

"If you look at what they actually did to him, they didn’t remove him. They took him out of the director’s job, and the director’s job is very political," Homan explained. "She (Noem) put him in a position as the executive associate director over ERO. All he does now is oversee our interior enforcement operation.”

Vitello will now oversee interior operations along with international offices. He will deal with HSI, criminal investigations, drug trafficking, gun trafficking and weapons of mass destruction.

ICE is reporting about 600 arrests being made per day in the month of February, which amounts to about 220k per year. Homan said while he is happy with the current immigration arrest numbers after one month, they need a significant bump.

"There needs to be better targeting, more targeting and sanctuary cities are a problem,” he said.
