The Purity Test- politically, it’s when we are so committed to an issue or a cause that any deviation from our doctrine will not be tolerated. For the left, when it comes to justices for the Supreme Court, it’s abortion. For the right, in the courts or legislation, it’s guns. The extremists who lobby governments or advocate for these causes are often purists who can’t take a win when they get one. And they burn down the house if their target is not pure enough.
What they don’t see is that they are hurting their chances for success by turning on their strongest advocates who are in a position to be able to advance the cause. The RLC does this repeatedly. The gun lobby does the same thing. They all need the Moms for Liberty lesson!
Candidates are largely the same way. Lying and deception are the rules of the day. Fooling enough voters makes them the nominee or office holder. It’s going on in our special elections for the Florida House and Senate. We’ll point out the problems on today’s show.
In today’s 8am hour Representative Monique Miller, back from committee weeks in Tallahassee, will join us to discuss the ins and outs of politics in the legislature and the issues ahead in March’s legislative session.
