The Lake Worth Beach Commission in our Election Spotlight this morning. We hear from the candidates running in District 4.

Incumbent Reinaldo Diaz is the founder of nonprofit Lake Worth Waterkeeper and a self-described environmental lobbyist.

Smart Growth Management is high up on his priorities and Diaz says he changed the way the city deals with developers.

"Our city for too long before I was on the Commission had sold our city short. The viewpoint previously is 'We need help. We need these developers to buy in.' Like we need them. I say it's the other way around. As someone who grew up here, I changed that viewpoint and I say we have the thing that they want. They should be working with us and doing what's best for our city."

Candidate Greg Richter says he's very active in the city and attended and was involved in all of the meetings surrounding the historic Gulfstream Hotel renovations.

He's a retired realtor who also spent 40 years selling small appliances.

"The reason I ran for office here, I feel like I'd have a positive impact on the city. I have good common sense is what's driven me, my success in business. That's why there are some issues here that I think need to be addressed."

Anthony Segrich says he's known by the nickname "Shark Bite" because of a widely reported story about him being attacked by a 12 foot bull shark while spearfishing off the Palm Beach County coast back in 2011.

That led him to form Shark Bite SEO, a digital marketing firm. He also has experience helping businesses with their process management.

"It's understanding process and process improvement and how to get people to get stuff done. The incumbent went in there and fired our city manager, without cause and did it suddenly without a plan. And when it comes down to it when you're leading from the top, you have to be able to set metrics, goals and expectations."

Hear more from all three candidates on the issues top of mind with Lake Worth Beach residents.
