Today is World Radio Day!

Did you know radio has been around more than 100 years? World Radio Day is a day set aside by The United Nations back in the 2012 to recognize radio "As one of the most reliable and widespread forms of media worldwide. In a statement yesterday UNESCO said: "While many new platforms quickly become obsolete, radio remains a crucial communication tool accessible to the public." The report goes on to recognize radio for still having a vital role in helping communities face natural disasters and still brings the voices of people and listeners to the world stage."

Here in our local Tri State Area I've seen first hand the difference radio makes in peoples lives. I feel honored to have spent decades helping organizations like SCARC, Catholic Charities and The Sussex County Department of Social Services. During dangerous winter storms we are still here live. Even after all these years I enjoy being your companion on the way to work and getting the kids ready for school. I hope all of you are still having as much fun as I am with Jersey Strong Trivia and during my live broadcasts around the area. It's been almost 45 years since I first got behind a microphone at Seton Hall University's WSOU. I never thought my time on the radio would last so long but I'm glad it did.
