Two Navy pilots were rescued Wednesday after a fighter jet crashed into the San Diego Bay off of Shelter Island.
A U.S. Navy spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft was an E/A-18 G Growler. The spokesperson said the two pilots in the aircraft safely ejected. The Coast Guard says they were rescued by a fishing boat after they were only in the water for about a minute.
The pilots were taken to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection boat on the scene before being taken to the hospital.
The crash is under investigation.
