Mariah Carey, OutKast, Billy Idol and other legendary musicians have been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2025 were announced on Wednesday morning, February 12. The list of nominees includes the "Always Be My Baby" singer, Big Boi & André 3000 of OutKast, punk rock legend Billy Idol, pop icon Cyndi Lauper, and Latin band Maná. Legendary band Phish, "Twist" singer Chubby Checker, The White Stripes, Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Joe Cocker, and Soundgarden were also selected.

This is the first time OutKast has been nominated for the coveted spot in the historic institution. They became eligible in 2019 after the duo's debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik celebrated its 25th anniversary. It's also the first time Chubby Checker, the originator of "The Twist," has been nominated since he became eligible in 1985. Maná makes history as the first-ever completely Spanish act to be nominated.

Nominees like Mariah Carey, Cyndi Lauper, The White Stripes, and Oasis are returning nominees who have yet to be inducted. Carey was first nominated last year nearly a decade after she became eligible following the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album.

The inductees will be honored at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year. A date has not been confirmed yet but it will be held this fall in Los Angeles.
