Lawmakers Fighting Increasing Utility Costs

State lawmakers are committed to bringing down rising utility costs.

Representative David Morales who serves Providence's Mount Pleasant, Valley, and Elmhurst neighborhoods, is introducing two bills to help the effort.

One of those bills would establish a maximum out-of-pocket monthly cost for utilities for residents on a fixed income.

Meanwhile, Rhode Island Energy says about two-thirds of what customers pay is out of their control.
