The Roanoke, Lynchburg and New River Valley areas remain under a Winter Storm Warning for snow, expected to change to sleet and freezing rain later today. Many schools and businesses have closed and power outages are possible.

ABC13 - WSET Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger gives us an update:
Keep in mind that any of us could lose power from the winter storm.
Tuesday morning's precipitation begins as snow before changing to a wintry mix. For Southwest Virginia, the changeover to a wintry mix is gradual during the p.m. hours on Tuesday.
Lynchburg and Central Virginia will have slippery surfaces, especially bridges. Some power outages could occur.
The mountains (like Bent Mountain) around Roanoke will see more ice than the City of Roanoke, but both locations will have freezing rain and icy surfaces.
Danville and South Boston will have the least amounts of wintry precipitation in our region.
