A 29-year-old Provo, Utah man is facing federal charges after allegedly attempting to obtain carfentanil, a powerful synthetic opioid used as an elephant tranquilizer. Clint Pendleton was charged with attempted possession with intent to distribute after authorities intercepted a package containing 20 grams of the drug late last month. The drug is ten-thousand times stronger than morphine and highly lethal. Investigators say Pendleton tracked the package and kept records of drug transactions.
