The Dauphin County District Attorney's Office has concluded its investigation into the deaths of Gabriella Morgan and Ricky Shannon, following a police chase and shootout in November 2024. The investigation determined that Shannon shot and killed Morgan before turning the gun on himself. The tragic events began when Shannon unlawfully entered Morgan's family home in Mount Joy Township, Lancaster County, where he fatally shot her mother, Kimberly Day, and injured her stepfather, Brian Miller. He then kidnapped Morgan and fled in a Ford F-150XLT.
The pursuit involved multiple police departments and ended on Route 147 after a PIT maneuver stopped Shannon's vehicle. According to the district attorney's report, Shannon fired at police before shooting Morgan and himself. Autopsies confirmed that the fatal wounds were from close-range gunshots, ruling out police involvement in their deaths.
Prior to the incident, both Shannon and Morgan had filed Protection From Abuse orders against each other. According to CBS 21 News, these orders highlighted a history of conflict between the two. The district attorney expressed condolences to the families of Morgan and Day, emphasizing the lawful response of the police to Shannon's actions.
