Kate Middleton's office dispelled rumors that Kensington Palace issued a style policy change amid recent backlash regarding public details about the Princess of Wales' clothing in a rare statement released on Tuesday (February 11).
The statement opened by referring to a recent Sunday Times article titled, "Princess of Wales: Focus on my work, not my wardrobe" (per People), in which a royal source remarked that the mother-of-three "wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting."
"Over the last week, I have received numerous questions about a story regarding The Princess of Wales’s clothing and how Kensington Palace shares information about her outfits."
The royal source who made the comments that appeared in the article continued, assuring that a policy change concerning what is printed about the Princess of Wales' fashion choices did not occur.
"To clarify, the comments that appeared in the article were from me, not The Princess of Wales. The comments that were reported should not be directly attributed to The Princess of Wales. To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness’s clothing."
Hello! Magazine mentioned that while it is common for Kensington Palace to comment on Middleton's looks for special occasions, it is out-of-the-ordinary for them to speak about the clothing she wears for "day-to-day engagements."
