An East Baton Rouge Parish deputy is recovering after being injured in a hit-and-run accident while directing traffic following the Super Bowl.

New Orleans police say the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday on Poydras Street at Convention Center Boulevard, not far from the Superdome.

A pickup truck's back tire clipped the deputy's ankle and the driver left the scene. EMS responded and treated the deputy, who suffered a broken ankle.

Police found the truck about an hour after the hit-and-run.
