LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Dodger pitchers and catchers are scheduled to conduct their first spring training workout of 2025 at their Glendale, Arizona training facility Tuesday with two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell and Japanese star Roki Sasaki among the newcomers.

Other off-season pitching acquisitions include two-time all-star reliever Kirby Yates and 2024 all-star reliever Tanner Scott.

Pitchers not returning include Walker Buehler and Jack Flaherty.

Buehler signed a one-year contract with the Boston Red Sox on Dec. 28 after spending the first eight seasons of his major league career with the Dodgers, concluding his tenure by pitching a perfect ninth inning for a save in the World Series-clinching 7-6 Game 5 victory over the New York Yankees, two days getting the win in Game 3, pitching five shutout innings and limiting the Yankees to two hits in a 4-2 victory.

Flaherty signed a two-year $35 million contract to return to the Detroit Tigers, who dealt the former Harvard-Westlake School standout to the Dodgers July 30. Flaherty was 6-2 with a 3.58 ERA in 10 regular-season starts for the Dodgers and 1-2 with a 7.36 ERA in five postseason starts.

Clayton Kershaw remains unsigned as he recovers from surgeries for a torn meniscus in his left knee as well as a ruptured plantar plate and bone spurs in his left big toe.

Non-roster pitchers invited to spring training include Jared Karros, a son of retired Dodger first baseman turned broadcaster Eric Karros. The younger Karros pitched for Mira Costa High School and UCLA and was selected by the Dodgers in the 16th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.

Jared Karros split the 2024 season between the Dodgers' Great Lakes affiliate in the High-A Midwest League and Tulsa affiliate in the Double-A Texas League with a combined 7-1 record and 2.79 ERA in 15 starts.

All three Dodger catchers from last season remain with the team, Will Smith, Austin Barnes and Hunter Feduccia.

Shohei Ohtani threw off a mound Monday at Camelback Ranch as he continues efforts to resume his pitching career after not pitching in 2024 after undergoing surgery to repair a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament

Ohtani underwent successful arthroscopic shoulder surgery Nov. 5  "to repair a labrum tear that resulted from a left (non-throwing) shoulder dislocation" during Game 2 of the World Series, according to the team.

Ohtani injured the shoulder sliding while trying to steal second base in the seventh inning of the Oct. 26 game against the Yankees. Despite the injury, he played in all remaining games of the series.

The Dodgers are scheduled to conduct their first full-squad workout Saturday. The Dodgers are scheduled to begin spring training play Feb. 20 against the Chicago Cubs at Camelback Ranch and begin the regular season March 18 against the Cubs in Tokyo.

The Dodgers are set to play in Southern California for the first time in 2025 on March 23 in a Freeway Series game at Dodger Stadium against the Angels, and play their home opener March 27 against the Detroit Tigers.

Angels pitchers and catchers report to their Tempe, Arizona spring training facility Tuesday and have their first workout Wednesday.
