More details have emerged about a fatal crash involving a Susquehanna Township police vehicle in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, last Saturday (February 8). The incident occurred at the intersection of Walnut Street and Locust Lane around 12:30 p.m. when Moises Cruz Jr., a 23-year-old from Millersburg, was driving a 2007 Honda Accord at high speed. According to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police, Cruz ran a red light and collided with a 2023 Ford Explorer entering the intersection.
The impact caused the Honda Accord to veer into the westbound lanes, where it struck two more vehicles—a 2021 Kia Sorento and a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado—both stopped at the red light. Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene. The police SUV involved in the crash sustained significant damage, with its front end ripped off. The officer driving the police vehicle is reportedly injured and recovering.
The crash led to the closure of Walnut Street for several hours as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene and clear debris. Three of the four vehicles involved sustained disabling damage. The crash remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
