The judge overseeing the case of former Fort Bend County commissioner candidate Taral Patel, who is currently facing multiple charges related to a racism hoax he allegedly created to garner sympathy from voters, has recused himself from the case.
434th District Court Judge Christian Becerra has removed himself from the case, according to the Fort Bend County District Attorney. The case now goes into the hands of Judge Christi Kennedy, a retired judge from Tyler.
Judge Kennedy is the third judge to handle the case, which was originally in the hands of Judge Surendran Patel, who was removed from the case earlier in the summer.
