Ohio State football is elevating a current coach to become the team's next offensive coordinator.

ESPN reported on Wednesday that Brian Hartline has been promoted to play-caller.

The 38-year-old served as co-offensive coordinator last season under Chip Kelly, who left to become the Raiders' OC.

Hartline was a wide receiver during his playing days with the Buckeyes and coached the position group starting in 2018. The Dolphins selected him in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL draft and played six seasons in Miami before spending a year with the Browns.

Hartline had more than 4,700 yards to go with 14 touchdowns in his professional career.
