Lil Wayne may have left several clues about his anticipated album Tha Carter VI in a brand-new Super Bowl ad.
As promised, the New Orleans native made his big announcement on Thursday, February 6. Although he won't be around for the Super Bowl in his hometown, Weezy starred in a Cetaphil commercial that will air on Sunday night during the big game. The ad is inspired by his reaction to being snubbed by Roc Nation and the NFL after they selected Kendrick Lamar to headline the halftime show over him. After recouping from the painful decision, Wayne shows up with the lotion to assist people who go through sensitive situations.
“What attracted me to this project was the chance to flip the script,” Wayne told Rolling Stone about the ad. “Showing a sensitive side isn’t a weakness—it’s a power. There’s nothing more real than turning those types of moments into a display of strength. This campaign made perfect sense to me. The world knew I was disappointed, but what they didn’t know was that it made me determined to deliver something way bigger.”
In one scene, Wayne pops up in a family's home after a father meets his daughter's male friend for the first time and notices a condom in his wallet. All three family members wear jerseys with numbers "06", "06" and "25" on the front. In another scene, a couple at a football game has an awkward moment when the "kiss cam" lands on them. Unfortunately, the guy isn't into it and left the girl hanging. Wayne comes through with the Cetaphil, but the score at the bottom is tied at 6 - 6 with 25 seconds left.
The most obvious clue appears at the end of the ad. Dermatologist Dr. Muneed Shah visits Wayne at the studio and invites him to go to the Super Bowl. Weezy declines while standing in front of a mic and says, "Nah, *this* is time-sensitive." The door closes with a sign that says, "Do not disturb 'til 06-06-25 Tha Carter VI." Wayne previously revealed his intentions to drop the anticipated album this year.
