House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi says the drunk driving arrest of Providence Representative Enrique Sanchez over the weekend is a "serious charge."
As to whether Sanchez should resign, the speaker said that's up to Sanchez and his constituents.
Shekarchi said he'll let the process play out and that everybody is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
Sanchez has not spoken to reporters and is free pending a court hearing.
