series of winter storms are affecting the Northeast, Midwest, and Plains, with four storms expected in just seven days. The second storm, Winter Storm Garnett, will bring snow and ice starting Friday (February 7) and continuing through the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm alerts from the Northern Plains to the Northeast.

According to The Weather Channel, Garnett will spread snow across the Northern Plains on Friday, moving into the upper Midwest by night. On Saturday, snow, sleet, and freezing rain will impact the Midwest and Northeast, including areas previously affected by Winter Storm Freya. Snow and wind may persist in New England until Sunday.

The storm is expected to produce over five inches of snow in parts of the Northeast, including New York City and Boston. The upper Midwest, including the Twin Cities and Green Bay, Wisconsin, could also see higher totals. Ice accumulation may occur from the Ohio Valley to the Appalachians and mid-Atlantic, potentially causing hazardous road conditions and power outages.

AccuWeather reports that over 100,000 power outages have already occurred due to the initial storm, with more expected as winds pick up. Residents and emergency responders are bracing for storm fatigue as the pattern continues.

Next week, two more storms are expected. The first will bring snow from the Plains to the Northeast from Monday (February 10) to Wednesday (February 12), potentially affecting the Interstate 95 corridor, including New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The second storm will move from the Rockies to the Northeast from late Tuesday (February 11) through Thursday (February 13).
