Reba McEntire shared a clip of the moment she and two of her Happy’s Place co-stars, Melissa Peterman and Belissa Escobedo, teamed up for “a fun surprise” while filming the sitcom.
The trio appeared to deliver an impromptu rendition of McEntire’s “I’m A Survivor,” her 2001 anthem that served as the theme song of Reba, a beloved early 2000s comedy series that ended in 2007. McEntire sang “I’m A Survivor” with Peterman and Escobedo while filming the latest episode of Happy’s Place, titled “Baby Doll.” In the episode, Gabby (Peterman) “expresses concerns about parenting,” so Bobbie (McEntire) “reassures her she’d be a great mother, which prompts Gabby to bring in an AI baby doll and turn the tavern into her own personal day care.” The episode ends with a heartwarming reference to the lyrics of “I’m A Survivor.”
Happy’s Place premiered in October 2024. Julie Abbott and Kevin Abbott created the NBC show, which follows McEntire’s character as she “inherits a restaurant from her late father, then learns she must share ownership with a newly discovered half-sister, creating awkward tension between the two.”
The show has also featured Steve Howey as a guest star in an episode earlier this season. Howey played McEntire’s son-in-law on Reba, which focused on “a single mom of three, navigating life in a Houston suburb.” The early 2000s show also starred Christopher Rich, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Scarlett Pomers, Mitch Holleman and Peterman, who played McEntire’s unlikely friend. Reba fans commented on the Happy’s Place clip McEntire shared on Instagram, including one who said “this makes me wish for a Reba revival so much,” and another who wrote, “I wish I was at the taping of this one 😍 my heart would have melted.” Watch it here:
