Two Harris County Officials Want To Keep Birthright Citizenship

Even though president Donald Trump recently signed an Executive Order halting 'Birthright Citizenship' for children of illegal aliens, the battle has arrived here in Houston, where there is already a progressive resistance.

That would be from Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee, and Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, who both have joined other Democrats from blue-led cities in trying to stop Trump.

"It's partisan, and those are talking points from Washington" said Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey, "It's not going to end well, it is a waste of money. People are abusing the system, and birthright citizenship is one of the significant abuses I think of the system."

The Dems and the left claim that birthright citizenship is protected by the 14th amendment. But many legal scholars disagree, and expect it to be clarified by the U.S. Supreme Court.

"We need to get back to common sense in everything that we do, and birthright citizenship has been abused" Ramsey told KTRH.

It's worth noting, Republican attorneys general of 18 states have now submitted an amicus brief in support of president Trump’s executive action.
