New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is term-limited and will not be seeking re-election. With the field of candidates wide open, however, Murphy’s recent comments about harboring an illegal migrant in his garage have only provided cannon fodder for the Republican field hoping to replace him. Murphy initially dared the government to come after him for harboring an illegal migrant in his garage, then backpedaled on the comments when border czar Tom Homan called Murphy’s bluff and said he is violating the law and could be prosecuted if the story is true. One of those Republican hopefuls is Jack Ciattarelli, who narrowly missed upsetting Murphy outright in the 2021 election. Ciattarelli appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to discuss the governor’s recent comments.
As Ciattarelli was quick to point out to host Larry Mendte, “What the governor said, if in fact it’s true- and why would we believe it is not, since he said it- he is in violation of federal law. And so, I’ve called for the legislature to begin impeachment proceedings. No one’s above the law. What he said is in violation of federal law, and that’s why Homan said what he said in that press conference. So, we need to see where this goes, but you can see how the administration with the governor’s spokesperson is now in recovery mode. The spokesperson is now saying something the complete opposite of what the governor said, and the governor has been silent since; we’ve got a real problem here in New Jersey.”
Ciattarelli is also appalled that the entire field of Democrats running in the hopes of occupying the office in Trenton has said they will uphold Murphy’s policy of declaring New Jersey to be a sanctuary state. “Not one of them has commented, and yet, in their debate [Sunday], every single one of them has said they would continue with the sanctuary city/sanctuary state policies of Phil Murphy. Every one of these people is complicit in his failed policies that have really wrecked New Jersey in the past seven years.”
