Several people are in need of a new home after a commercial building in downtown Holyoke was condemned.
Mayor Joshua Garcia said the structure on 56 Suffolk Street had several building and state sanitary code violations, including a broken fire alarm and sprinkler system and no running water.
The building was cleared out without prior notice on Tuesday.
City officials say an emergency response team is being formed to helped those suddenly displaced.
