Scott County Attorney Won't Press Charges in Davenport Collapse

(Davenport, IA) -- The owner of a Davenport apartment building that partially collapsed nearly two years ago killing three men and leaving dozens homeless will not face criminal charges.

Scott County Attorney Kelly Cunningham says the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation found no evidence that would warrant charges. She says Andrew Wold hadn't owned the 120 year-old building for very long at the time of the collapse, and that he hadn't neglected its condition.

Cunningham says she's been concerned for the safety of Wold and city staff who have received threats over the collapse. The decision doesn't affect the civil lawsuits against Wold, contractors and the city of Davenport.
