WYOMING, Mich. -- Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker says his office has filed an open-murder charge against 36-year-ol Jeremiah Hernandez.
He had been charged with Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder after David Goren was found beaten January 29 on Byron Center Avenue south of 36th Street, in Wyoming. He later died at a hospital.
Goren was his 57-year-old stepfather.
The arraignment time in 62A District Court had not been scheduled yet at the time of this report Wednesday afternoon.
"We have no information on when he will be arraigned on this new charge. He is innocent of this charge until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt," Becker wrote in a news release.
