Shortly after Donald Trump was sworn into office, he sent out ICE agents to begin locating and deporting immigrants who have entered this country illegally. While ICE has been all around the country working on this objective, certain places have given the federal agency trouble due to their standing sanctuary city laws. Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County Executive, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about his support of border czar Tom Homan and ICE.
“We’re the first county that has comprehensively cooperated with ICE,” Blakeman tells host Larry Mendte. “I made it clear from day one when I came into office that we’re not a sanctuary county.”
Blakeman details the steps he has taken to give support: “We’re cross-designating and embedding ten detectives who will help [ICE] round up illegal immigrants who have committed crimes.”
