A theme today is taking the win. And how dumb it is that Gov Tony Evers just won’t take the political win when it comes to supporting ice as they round up and deport illegal criminals.
They aren’t rounding up and killing kittens.
They aren’t stomping on baby ducks.
Ice agents are rounding up criminals-who have very real-innocent victims here in Wisconsin- and deporting them to make the state safer. And Gov Evers is ‘by god, vowing to stand in the way of that!’
Why? And- how stupid are you?
I’m going to talk a bit today about how-I’m still surprised that Joe Biden didn’t ‘take the win’ as Donald trump handed him a closed and controlled southern border for the first time in u-s history.
I know that today’s democrats are far, far, far more interested in keeping divisive issues ‘percolating’ so that they can use them as wedge issues-
But when the American people have been speaking so loudly on that open border-and when trump handed Biden a ‘fixed situation’....it still blows me away that he chose to completely blow it up instead of taking the win.
But that’s what today’s democrats do: remember, as Obama took office, George W. Bush finally, genuinely, had a ‘win’ developing in Iraq. I wasn’t in favor of his nation building- I thought we should have just gone in- level Saddam-and gotten out-
But by the time bush left office, he had a quote ‘free’ and ‘stabilizing’ Iraq. They had held elections. International trade and partnership deals were being made to help rebuild. Global businesses saw a new, untapped market.
I’m not saying it was perfect, but people forget how different, and ‘open’, and stable Iraq was for a moment there-and if Obama would have come in and nurtured it- he could have taken the win for himself and maybe even gone down in history as the president with the Muslim-sounding name who finally sparked some peace and democracy in the middle east.
And I know. I know. It would have been a tough road and more likely would have failed than not-but the point is- Obama didn’t even try. He and Pelosi and Reid-intentionally-moved to blow up the blossoming peace in Iraq-because ‘by God, they were not going to allow this buffoon, George W. Bush, to go down in history as a successful wartime president.
They had been arguing for years that bush was a buffoon and the war was a terrible mistake-and so-they had to prove it- by ensuring it ended badly. It was more important to them that they be able to flog bush-and every future GOP president with it- than do something productive, globally, or ‘take the win’.
In Biden’s border situation- it was a much easier call: just take the win.
The last guy did all the hard work for you. He solved the problem. Move around a few desks.Claim you are doing some tweaking...and boom...claim the win for yourself. A 100 year-long border problem was solved. And you were the man to do it.
Nope. Biden blew it all up.
So now we get to Gov Evers: 80 percent of Americans say: we want the illegal alien-criminals-deported. Ice is doing it. GOP lawmakers want to pass a bill that ensures our county sheriff’s departments are cooperating with ice-as they do it-
So, they’ve crafted a bill that says they’ll withhold state funding to any county whose law enforcement doesn’t cooperate-
And Gov Evers leapt to insist he will veto it?
Why?
He’s -that? -invested in protecting Wisconsin’s illegal thugs and criminals?
No part of what has transpired over the last day or so makes sense.
The behind the scenes action here played out this way: republicans were organizing to make a bit of a splash with this bill and hold a news conference yesterday- Tuesday- in which they’d unveil the measure and say, ‘we’re with President Trump and the American people...and the people of Wisconsin...we can all agree...the criminals have to go’.
Well, Evers’ team got wind of the move and decided to try to ‘get ahead of it’ and try to stomp out support of it- by running to the journal sentinel ahead of time and vowing to veto it if it passes.
Uuhmmm, okay.
So- you think pouring political gas on this bill is going to tamp it down. Lessen the controversy?
That’s foolish thinking.
All Evers’ pre-emptive move did is ensure that the GOP bill gets even more attention-and even bigger percentage of Wisconsin voters know that Governor Tony Evers- for some reason-is really invested in defending criminal illegal aliens against deportation.
Why?
I was driving home yesterday, and heard Benjamin Yunt do a brilliant segment on this, yesterday, my friends.
Ben correctly pointed out that all republicans need to do, now, is gather all the stories of terrible crimes committed over the last four years by criminal aliens...and detail them for the media....and then ask: why does Tony Evers want to keep this person in Wisconsin? Why does he want this person to put back in Wisconsin’s streets-and into Wisconsin’s communities- instead of being sent out of here- when he’s released from prison?
And, of course, so many criminals now get either no prison time or a very light sentence. So, why does Tony Evers want...this child molester...or this illegal who killed people in a drunk driving accident...or who is responsible for several armed robberies.... To remain on the streets of Milwaukee, or Madison, or find his way out to plover...or whatever.
What would possess Gov Evers say he’s going to veto a bill that ensures our county sheriffs are cooperating with ice?
And by the way-the vast, vast majority are. It’s the sheriff’s depts. of Dane and Milwaukee County who are famously not.
Why not? That’s where most of the dangerous illegals are-just based on population and where the newly arrived migrants are drawn.
This is a no-brainer. And why Gov Evers would choose this idiotic hill to die on, is beyond me.
As i said yesterday: republicans need to pass this- so Evers vetoes it- then they need to hold a veto-override vote in both chambers. Even if they know it will fail.
Hold the veto override votes to get every democrat state lawmaker on the record as refusing to deport illegal criminals.
Then use it against the dems in split districts and in tight races next year. Because...Evers are setting them up to take a suicidal vote here, politically.
If i were the dem leaders of the assembly and senate-i would have already contacted Governor Gau-and said- what stupid stunt are you engaging in, here. You’d better come up with an excuse and have gov Evers sign this bill if it gets to his desk, you dopes.
