Doug Gottlieb: “You talk about culture and what was built at Iowa State, what was so unique about the Lions in comparison to other previous NFL seasons you’d had?”
David Montgomery: “You know, I tell people to this day that I love Chicago and I’m so appreciative of, you know, them taking a chance on a kid that nobody really believed in. Detroit is kinda like Cincinnati, Ohio, where I’m from, in that it’s perceived as a violent area, perceived to create and bring negativity. But when I got to Detroit, you know, it’s a blue collar place. It felt like it fit like a glove. People don’t really know much about it, there’s a lot of character, a lot of pizzaz. There’s a lot of stuff there that people don’t understand that if you’re there, it’s not as bad as you think it is. It’s a place that loves to love people.”
On this edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show, Doug was joined at Media Row in New Orleans by Lions RB David Montgomery to talk about his path to the NFL at Iowa State, why he left Chicago for Detroit, the Lions falling short of their goal to reach the Super Bowl, and more!
