Chinese Migrant Rescued By U.S. Coast Guard While Paddling Off Bahamas

Bahamas - The U.S. Coast Guard intercepted a Chinese national attempting to navigate the waters off the Bahamas on a paddleboard.

The individual was spotted approximately 25 miles off the coast of Freeport by the crew of the Cutter Seahorse.

As reported in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), visuals released by the Coast Guard depict the man maneuvering a makeshift vessel, seemingly composed of two paddleboards stacked together, with minimal luggage secured atop.

The Coast Guard wrote on X "#BreakingThe crew of @USCG Cutter Seahorse interdiction a Chinese migrant alien aboard a paddleboard located approximately 25 miles from Freeport, Bahamas, and transferred him back to The Bahamas, Tuesday. #USCG #DontTakeToTheSea @HSI_Miami @EROMiami"

Following the rescue, the man was safely transported back to the Bahamas on Tuesday.

The circumstances leading to his perilous journey remain under investigation.
