Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination for secretary of Health and Human Services has the support of Senator Bill Cassidy.
The Louisiana Republican cast the deciding vote in the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday.
Cassidy, who is a medical doctor, had expressed concerns about RFK's skepticism around vaccine safety.
Cassidy is chair of the Senate committee that oversees HHS, and says he'll oppose any attempt to block public access to life-saving vaccines.
The committee vote was 14-13 along party lines.
Kennedy's nomination now goes to the full Senate, where he's expected to be confirmed.
