Steven Tyler Performs On Stage For The First Time Since His Vocal Injury

After we heard Steven Tyler would no longer perform live due to issues with his voice, he returned to the stage this week for the first time since his Aerosmoth retirement.

Tyler’s Jam For Janie charity event, which took place February 2 and doubled as a Grammys watch party, concluded with a special performance by the singer. He performed Extreme’s ‘More Than Words,’ and Aerosmith’s own ‘Toys in the Attic’ and ‘Dream On’. Tyler also played ‘Sweet Emotion’, ‘Walk This Way’ and ‘Heartbreaker’. The show had special appearances from Billy Idol and Joan Jett among others.

Proceeds from the Janie’s Fund charity gig will support women impacted by abuse, neglect, violence and those who have suffered in the LA wildfires. More than 100 firefighters were also invited to the event through the Widows, Orphans And Disabled Firefighters Fund and Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

Aerosmith announced their abrupt retirement from touring in August last year after Tyler suffered a serious vocal cord injury. The band’s final live show was held as part of their ‘Peace Out’ tour, which began in 2023, but only saw the band play three nights, before rescheduling the rest of the dates after Tyler injured his larynx.
