The Texas Senate appears to be a step closer to passing school choice/
A vote is expected in the upper chamber on SB2 tomorrow. The bill, which has the backing of Governor Greg Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, is expected to pass easily.
Then it will go to the Texas House, setting up a scenario similar to what we saw in 2023.
Two years ago, the Senate passed school choice. The House, despite several special sessions called by the Governor, never took it up.
That failure led to a massive change in the House, with the Governor and Lt. Governor backing candidates who were pro-school vouchers.
