A Lafayette-based fishing charter company is making bank with President Donald Trump's executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico.

Gulf of America Outfitters has been around since 2022, and owner Adam Peterson says Trump's decision to rename the body of water the Gulf of America has been good for business.

Peterson says many Americans make their living from the Gulf, whether in the oil and gas industry or the fishing industry.

He says the local fishing economy got a major boost from Trump's announcement.
