FRESNO, Calif. — After two games on the road last week, Fresno State returns home for a pair this week beginning with San Jose State on Tuesday night. The Spartans are the last Mountain West opponent that the Bulldogs have yet to play this season.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at Save Mart Center and will stream on the Mountain West Network.
QUICK LOOK
The Bulldogs are in the middle of a stretch of four games in 10 days (Feb. 1-10) that sees two home games in four days book-ended by road trips to Boise State and Nevada.
Fresno State's longest rival dating back to the Bulldogs' inaugural season in 1920-21, Fresno State holds a 98-78 lead all-time over the Spartans.
Fresno State has won the last three meetings with the Spartans, and 14 of the last 15 dating back to 2017.
During the last six games, Fresno State has held four of its opponents to below 70 points in regulation. Two of those contests ended in overtime defeats along with a five-point defeat regulation.
In Mountain West play, Fresno State is one of three teams in the conference with three players averaging at least 11 points per game--Alex Crawford (13. 9pg - 12th), Jalen Weaver (13.1ppg - 14th), Zaon Collins (11.5ppg - 21st).
Since the start of 2025, Crawford is averaging 17.1 points per game, posting four 20-point games in his eight games. It is the third-highest average in the conference since the start of January.
Crawford's 52.5% shooting during that stretch is the second-highest in the league.
Grabbing his sixth double-double at Wyoming (Jan. 28), Elijah Price moved into a tie for the second-most by a freshman in the country this season. The redshirt freshman also ranks fourth in the country among freshmen in rebounding (8.0 rpg) and offensive rebounds (2.91).
Since Dec. 11, Jalen Weaver has been one of the Bulldogs' most consistent scoring options, averaging 13.5 points per game while reaching double figures 11 times in 13 games during that span.
Freshman Brian Amuneke is coming off back-to-back games in double figures with 12 at Wyoming and 16 at Boise State, and has scored in double figures in the last three games (11.5 ppg).
BY THE NUMBERS
17.1 - In the last eight games, Alex Crawford is averaging 17.4 points per game, the third-highest average in the conference since the start of 2025.
6 - Redshirt freshman Elijah Price has totaled six double-doubles this year. It is the most by a Bulldog freshman since Paul George had six during the 2008-09 season.
11.1 - Freshman Brian Amuneke has played 20+ in seven games this season, averaging 11.1 points per game in those games. He has scored in double figures in four.
ASSERTING HIMSELF
With the ability to take a game over due to a superior athletic ability over many, Alex Crawford put it all on display at Utah State (Jan. 4). With the Bulldogs needing a spark in the second half, the junior provided it scoring 19 of his season-high 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting, including four highlight dunks. That performance not only sparked the Bulldogs, but sparked himself. Crawford has been in double figures seven of the last eight games including 20-point games in four of them.
Crawford has shown flashes of what he can do, having games with 17 and 18 points early in the year, but against the Aggies he bested those in just the second half, going 8-of-9 for 19 points.
Crawford has scored 137 points in his last eight games (17.1 ppg), tied for the third-highest average in the league since the start of 2025.
With only one game in his first 12 with 10 or more shots, Crawford has averaged 12.8 shot attempts from Jan. 4-28 (13, 12, 12, 13, 12, 16, 12) until only having nine in Boise.
PRICE IS RIGHT
After redshirting the 2023-24 season at Drake, Elijah Price made the decision to return back to his home state and join Fresno State, and it's quickly paying off for both sides. A Swiss-army knife type of player, the 6-foot-9 Price has throughout the season. He is the only Bulldog to start every game.
Price has posted six double-doubles in 22 games with his first in conference play coming against New Mexico on Dec. 31 with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Price also showed off his defensive abilities against the Lobos, producing a season-high six steals while matching his season high in blocks with three.
Price's six double-doubles matches the most by a Bulldog since Eduardo Andre had six during the 2022-23 season.
Price's double-double at Wyoming moved him one ahead of the five that Orlando Robinson (2020-21) and Greg Smith (2009-10) and tied him with the six that Paul George had during the 2008-09 season.
GROWING UP BEFORE OUR EYES
Reclassifying to the 2024 class, Brian Amuneke expected to redshirt the 2024-25 season, but due to the Bulldogs injuries early this season, the coaching staff and Amuneke decided to remove the redshirt. The 14th-youngest player on a Division I roster this season, the Los Angeles native made his debut for the 'Dogs on Nov. 20, scoring five points in 14 minutes off the bench, going 2-of-3 from the field.
Amuneke made his first start on Nov. 23, scoring five points and grabbing five rebounds.
With 28 points in his previous 10 games, including a then-season high eight points against San Diego State, Amuneke was a spark for the 'Dogs against New Mexico, pouring in 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting. He later scored 18 points in his first trip to The Pit.
Amuneke has four double-figure games since Jan. 31 (15, 18, 12, 16).
The freshman scored in doubles in back-to-back games for the first time last week, doing so against Wyoming (12) and Boise State (16).
Amuneke prepped under current Bulldogs' assistant coach Ray Barefield at Rancho Christian School where he was the Ivy League Player of the Year during his senior season.
