How Virginia Helps Keep Unused NFL Gear Out of Landfills

Every year, championship merchandise is printed for both teams ahead of major NFL games like the AFC and NFC Championships—and, of course, the Super Bowl. But what happens to the gear for the team that doesn’t win?

That’s where Good360, a nonprofit based in Alexandria, Virginia, steps in. For the 11th year, Good360 is partnering with the NFL to ensure unused and overprinted merchandise goes to people in need instead of ending up in landfills.

Through a vast network of over 100,000 nonprofits, Good360 distributes surplus goods to vulnerable communities worldwide, including in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. These donations support disaster relief efforts, children’s programs, and underserved populations.

“Really, it’s addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, natural disasters, disaster response and recovery, and working with children as well," says Cinira Baldi, CEO of Good360.

Beyond NFL gear, Good360 collaborates with major retailers like Lowe’s, IKEA, Walmart, and Amazon to provide essential items to those who need them most. Their work not only reduces waste but also turns excess into opportunity—ensuring products meant to celebrate victory still bring hope and relief.
