An Arizona man, Paul Guilbeault, was reunited with his lost dog, Damian, after a heartwarming eight-year separation. In 2017, during a cross-country move from Massachusetts to Arizona, Damian slipped from his leash and ran off near Oklahoma City. Despite a week-long search, Guilbeault couldn't find him and held onto hope, posting about the missing dog on social media.
“He either got fed up with being scolded or scared, and he just ran away,” Guilbeault recalled.
Fast forward to 2025, while Guilbeault was on his way to California to assist with wildfire relief, he received the shocking news: Damian had been found. The dog was almost hit by a car in Oklahoma City, but a kind woman, Donna Bentley, rescued him. A vet scan confirmed the dog’s microchip and linked him back to Guilbeault.
“Not until when I got in front of him that I realized how much of an old man he had become,” Guilbeault said of the reunion.
Just 14 hours later, they were reunited. Despite the years apart, Damian instantly recognized his owner, showing clear signs of returning home.
"When we go there, he gets such a smile on his face. Like, ‘I know where we’re at. I finally made it home,’” Guilbeault shared.
A miraculous reunion that proves love and perseverance can lead to incredible outcomes, even after years apart.
