DW: Don't we already have these? Called Deadbeat Dads?
At a board meeting of the Human Fertilization And Embryology Authority Board last week, scientists announced that within two years we should have the technology to create in-vitro gametes, which are eggs or sperm grown in a lab from skin or stem cells. That means one person could supply everything needed to create a baby.
Board chair Julia Chain said after the presentation, “It feels like we ought to have Steven Spielberg on this committee.” Experts are warning that having a baby by yourself could have much higher risks of genetic disorders.
