Pembroke Pines, FL - A 15-year-old student from South Broward High School has been taken into custody after allegedly making electronic threats targeting Charles W. Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines.

According to local authorities, Pembroke Pines Police reported that the 10th grader allegedly issued threats in a Snapchat group chat on a recent Wednesday evening, prompting concern from another student who subsequently contacted 911.

The department's Threat Assessment Team swiftly identified the suspect and responded to his residence.

The teenager was arrested on a felony charge of making electronic threats to kill and was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

Although police determined the threat to be isolated, a safety plan was enacted at Flanagan High School, resulting in increased security measures and patrols on campus the following Thursday.

Authorities are urging parents to discuss the gravity of making school-related threats with their children.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Pembroke Pines Police Department at 954-431-2200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
