A man in his fifties suffered severe injuries after being attacked by a massive kangaroo outside his home in Australia on Wednesday (January 29). The kangaroo, estimated to be over 6.5 feet tall and weighing about 220 pounds, left the man with serious lacerations to his hip, arm, and chest. He was initially treated at Emerald Hospital before being airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

The man was about to leave for the shops when he encountered two kangaroos on his veranda. While one kangaroo fled, the other became aggressive and attacked him. Willows Rural Fire Brigade First Officer Rick Underhill described the attack as "quick and simple," emphasizing the kangaroo's unexpected aggression.

The man's neighbor played a crucial role in saving his life by providing immediate assistance. Underhill noted that the man could have bled to death without this help. He also expressed concerns about the presence of aggressive kangaroos in the area, urging the government to take action and warning residents to stay away from wild kangaroos.

Kangaroo attacks are rare but can occur when the animals feel threatened. However, Underhill stated that this attack was unprovoked, adding that he had never witnessed such an incident in his 13 years in the area. The community is now on high alert, with warnings issued for the two large kangaroos in Willows that may pose a danger to residents and tourists.
