(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Police Department is releasing additional details about a deadly officer-involved shooting last Friday. Investigators say 36-year-old Brandon Allen Mitchell had felony probation warrants for second offense domestic abuse and child endangerment. DMPD says Mitchell was hiding out in a closet in the 1300 block of East Tiffin Avenue, north of Grand View University, when officers arrived to arrest him. He was fatally shot during a confrontation, after telling officers he had a gun. The officers involved are identified Senior Police Officer William Perez, and Senior Police Officer Michael Hoopes. Both are currently on administrative assignment.
