The Town of Colonie is set to launch a new alert system on February 10. This system will enhance the current Stay Connected platform, which only uses email to send notifications. The updated system will include text messages and phone calls, allowing residents to receive alerts in real time. Residents can also choose to receive notifications specific to their neighborhood, such as alerts about water main breaks.

Town Supervisor Peter Crummey emphasized the importance of the new system, stating that it will "expand transparency and more effectively disseminate information to our residents." Residents currently subscribed to the Stay Connected system are encouraged to update their contact preferences, including their physical addresses and phone numbers, to ensure they receive the most relevant alerts.

The new alert system aims to improve communication between the town and its residents, providing timely updates on both emergency and non-emergency situations. Residents can sign up or update their profiles through the town's website. For more information, visit the Town of Colonie's Stay Connected page.
