What To Know About Dating For Valentine's Day

Hinge’s New AI Tool Helps Users Avoid Making Bad Dating Profiles

Dating apps are full of boring profiles and people often give equally boring answers to prompts, which isn’t helping anyone land a date. To help make sure your responses stand out as clever and charming, Hinge is rolling out a new AI feature. The Prompt Feedback tool coaches singles to write more original responses to those conversation starters.

It pushes Hinge users to give more detailed answers and steer clear of common or boring ones. But the AI isn’t doing the work for you by rewriting your responses, it’s just suggesting tweaks and changes to improve them. The AI coach may rate your response to a prompt as a “great answer” or suggest you “try a small change” or “go a little deeper.” And you don’t have to use the feedback it gives, you can ignore any advice it offers.

“By crafting Prompt responses that highlight your unique quirks and share authentic details about your personality, you can help potential matches get to know the real you,” explains Logan Ury, Hinge’s director of relationship science. “This small shift can make a big difference in finding a connection worth deleting the app for.”

Bumble Reveals Best Time To Make A Match On The App

With the holiday season behind us and less than a month left until Valentine’s Day, singles are back on dating apps in full force right now. As we recently told you, research shows that online dating sees the highest rate of activity from the beginning of January to February 14th - Valentine’s Day. According to Tinder, there are 11.4-million more messages sent and over 58-million more likes sent on their app during that time than the rest of the year.

Now the experts at Bumble are giving singles a boost by revealing the best time to hop on their app. According to data crunchers at the dating app, their U.S. users are most active Mondays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., so being on then could lead to more matches.

To stay competitive during the peak season, you may want to upgrade your profile, and Tinder’s Global Relationship Insights Expert, Paul C Brunson, suggests the best way to do that. He advises that the optimal dating profile should include five photos and not be longer than around 45 words. After you make a match, he recommends having a conversation before going on that first date, explaining, “The best dates happen when you have time to get to know each other on the app before meeting in real life.”
