A snack sold in retailers in dozens of states around the country, including in Wisconsin, has been recalled over a common allergen that poses a serious health risk for certain consumers.
Wismettac Asian Foods has recalled its "2.46-ounce packages of Shirakiku brand Curvee Puffs Corn Puff Snack Curry Flavor" due to the potential presence of milk that was not listed on the product labels, according to a recall notice shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This could pose the risk of a "serious or life-threatening" allergic reaction for consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk.
The affected product, which includes all lot and date codes of the product featuring a UPC code of 07441078512, was distributed to retailers, restaurants and online businesses in several states: Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
As of time of the recall, there have been no reports of adverse effects or illnesses in connection with the affected product. Customers can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
