A vegetation fire has broken out in Camarillo near CSU Channel Islands.
Per the Watch Duty app and incident command, the fire is now 50 acres with a potential to grow quickly but incident command says that forward progress of the fire has been stopped.
CSU Channel Islands is asking everyone to evacuate the campus and University Glen immediately, to ensure everyone's safety. The university also released a statement:
“Due to the campus evacuation this morning caused by the Laguna Fire, in-person and/or virtual classes are canceled today. There is no expectation for employees to work today, except for those few designated personnel who may be contacted by their supervisor with a call to work. We appreciate the campus cooperation in evacuating this morning. Additional updates will provided later today.”
Road Closures in place for Potrero Road and the Oxnard Street entrance to CSUCI. Lewis Road has been re-opened to traffic.
A temporary evacuation point has been established at the Camarillo Community Center located at 1605 Burnley St, Camarillo.
