Harpoon Hunters Premieres on Discovery Plus and the Discovery Channel this Friday, January 24th. This new reality series follows several fishermen hunting the blue fin tuna in Cape Cod Bay
Captain Joe Dion out of Green Harbor, MA has been harpooning tuna for 25 years. He took two seasons off from the job to care for his children, two of whom have been diagnosed with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy.
He’s now back to work to earn money to care for them and to raise money for The Dion Fund which he created to fund research and increase awareness of this rare disease.
Every year harpoon hunters compete to catch as many tunas as possible before the season’s quota is reached.
